A modal analysis will calculate the eigen frequencies and eigen modes of a structure.
To start a modal analysis:
- Click on
or go to the menu ‘Analysis – Modal analysis’.
The following dialogue appears:
- Specify the number of eigen modes (and accompanying eigen frequency) you want to calculate.
- Advanced settings:
- The ‘Interval’ option lets you set the frequency range within the eigen frequencies should be calculated.
- You can choose between 2 types of damping:
- Rayleigh damping: enter the dampingsratio ξ of the first and second eigen mode.
- Or you enter the measured dampingsratios for each eigenmodes separately.
- Choose which type of solver you would like to use.
- Choose which type of mass matrix you wish to use.
