Rotate

To rotate a (part of a) structure:

  • Select the relevant elements.
  • Click on .
    The following dialogue appears:
  • Indicate the plane in which rotation has to take place.
The axis around which the rotation takes place is perpendicular to this plane.
  • Enter the number of rotated copies N.
When N>1, you can create the connecting lines/surfaces.
  • Angle & Center
Enter the angle at which the selection must be rotated and the coordinates of the rotation point.
For the rotation point, you can either impose the point number or the global coordinates of the point.

The centre and the angle of rotation may be introduced graphically while keeping the dialogue window open. It is sufficient to indicate 3 points: the first corresponds to the centre of rotation, the other two define the angle α.
  • During each rotation, it is possible to add a displacement along the axis of rotation to each rotation.
  • Optionally, when N = 0, you can link the rotation to the physical group.

A practical application of the rotation function is creating spiral staircases.
