Saving project parameters

Saving a project regularly is a good practice that prevents data loss. In Diamonds, saving can even be done automatic.

To do so:

  • Go to the menu ‘Options – Preferences…’. And choose the tab page ‘File’.
    The following dialogue appears:
  • Save file automatically
Check this option to save the file automatically. Impose the frequency [min].
The project is then saved under the same name and the previously saved version is modified into a ‘backup’ file (.bs!).
This option will slow Diamonds down slightly each time it needs to perform the save operation. Therefore, we do not recommend setting the frequency very low.
  • Save a temporary back-up file automatically
Check this option to automatically save a back-up of the file automatically. The temporary back-up is saved in the folder C:\Users\*Username*\Documents\Diamonds\*Version you’re using*.
This option will slow Diamonds down slightly each time it needs to perform the save operation. Therefore, we do not recommend setting the frequency very low.
  • Which data should be saved?
    • Indicate if the mesh should be saved.
This results in a file with the name ‘*.bsr’ in the same directory as the *.bsf file.
    • Indicate if the reports should be saved.
These are saved in the *.bsf-file.
    • Indicate if the results should be saved.
This results in a folder with the name ‘*_bsr’ in the same directory as the *.bsf file.

If you don’t save the mesh, it has no use to save the results either. Because the results cannot be loaded in Diamonds without the mesh.

  • Enter the maximum number of Undo/Redo operations. The maximum is 20.
  • When saving a file, the display parameters are always saved at the same time. If you check the last option, these parameters will be activated when you open the file. In principle, it is better not to select this option.
