You can delete a structural element or a part of the construction at any time. In all cases, you need to select the elements to be deleted. Next, you may choose:
- either to click
in the ‘Geometry’ pallet, - or use the DEL or SUPRR-key
The cross-sections (footings, beams, plates) assigned to points, lines or planes will be deleted together with them.
Notes:
- When you delete a plate edge, Diamonds will ask if the adjacent plate may also be deleted.
Unless a cross-section was assigned to this edge. Then only the cross-section will be deleted and the line and plate will remain.
When you delete a plate edge that’s part of a least two plates, will also allow the plates to be merged.- Only select the edge(s) of the surfaces you would like to merge.

- Click
or DEL. - A dialogue box asks you what you want to do with the selection. Choose “Merge“.

- Result:

- Only select the edge(s) of the surfaces you would like to merge.
- If you want to delete a cross-section of an isolated bar but keep the line to which the cross-section was assigned, use
and modify the form of the cross-section as described in Bar properties. - When you delete a plate, the edges of the plate will be deleted as well, unless beams have been assigned to these lines. If you ddon’t want to delete the edges of the plate, only select the plates and use the hot key CTRL + SHIFT + DEL.
To delete the cross-section of the plate, thus maken in opening, use the button
and choose
with the shape (see Properties of surfaces). - If you delete a plate entirely included in another plate, the latter will not be erased but modified into an opening. Since all the openings are automatically assigned to the same type (i.e. ‘Openings’), you can easily hide it as described in Design types. This method has the following advantage. You do not have to worry about these openings when selecting underlying elements.
