Managing projects

Creating a new project

To create a new project, select the menu command ‘File > New ‘ or click on the icon . If you want to create a new project while you already have a project open, it is of course recommended that you first save the results of your work in the open project.

Saving projects

To save projects, select the menu command ‘File > Save‘ or click on the button . You can also use the menu command ‘File > Save as‘.

1•2•Build projects are always saved with the extension *.12b. The difference between ‘Save‘ and ‘Save as…‘ is as follows:

  • if you have already saved the project, you can use the Save command to save the project again under the same name. The extension *.12b of the previously saved version will be changed to *.12!.
  • if you want to save the project under a new name, select the command ‘Save as…‘.

1•2•Build allows you to choose whether to save projects with or without the results. You can set this via the menu command ‘Modify > General settings‘. In the dialogue box, under Results, tick or untick the Save results option.

In the Save dialogue box at the bottom, you can also use a pull-down menu to specify whether you want to save the results or not. If you click on the arrow next to the button at the top of the icon bar, you can also set here whether the results are saved or not.

Opening projects

In addition to the “normal” 1•2•Build files (with the extension “.12b”), 1•2•Build can also open the backup files (with the extension “.12!”). To do this, select the menu command ‘Archive > Open...’ or click on . To the right of this icon, you will find an arrow that allows you to find the last files opened in 1•2•Build: hold down the arrow and then select the desired file from the pull-down menu that appears.
