Point loads and moments on bars

Point loads can be applied on bars according to the global coordinate system. Moments on bars can be applied around the global Z-axis.

To apply the load:

  • Select the relevant bar(s) and click on the button . This dialog will appear:
  • Specify the orientation of the load and enter its magnitude. The direction of the arrows always indicates the positive direction of the load.
The representation of these loads rotates with the representation of the XY-coordinate system if you have chosen a perspective view.
  • Enter the distance of the load in relation to the start point (= point 1) of the bar.
The start point of a bar, is always the point with the smallest x-coordinate, or if the x-coordinates are equal, the smallest y-coordinate. The distance can be a numerical value or a fraction of the bar length L.

The magnitude of the concentrated loads and moments can be defined by entering the appropriate numerical values or can be calculated by 1•2•Build using the Load descent-function.
