Calculating a structure ( regardless the material), consists of two steps:
- The elastic analysis where the internal forces (= moments, shear force, axial force), reactions, elastic displacements and elastic stresses are determined.
- The design where it’s verified if the chosen sections can meet the strength, stability and stiffness requirements. The design is always done according to a standard.
Elastic analysis
- For all materials the elastic analysis can be done if the mechanical material properties are known. Read here how to add a new material to the library.
Design
- The relevant design codes for aluminium (EC9), masonry (EC6) and composite steel-concrete (EC4) are not implemented. The internal forces obtained in Diamonds can be used to manually verify the cross sections.
