Problem
There are no strength/ stability results available for a custom cross-section (Section utility) after a steelcheck.
Solution
In order to perform a steelcheck, elastic and plastic section properties are not sufficient. Eurocode requires additional parameters. Eurocode gives rules to determine those additional parameters in case of I, T, H, O, L and tubular cross-sections. But for a combination of these cross-sections or for a random cross-section there are not rules given. Eurocode will have to be interpreted in order to determine a meaningful value for these additional parameters. And that is a job for the end user. The additional parameters can be defined in Section Utility:
- Open the cross section Section Utility
- Click on the button “Imposed classes” at the right bottom side
- Enter the requested parameters. An overview can be found in the download links below.
