How to use the mirror function

The mirror function comes in handy when the structure (or part of it) is (almost) symmetrical.

  • Draw the outline of half of the structure.
  • Click on to change the view to a 2D view. Usually a Top or a Front view are used.
  • Select the structure and click on  .
  • Indicate the points defining the mirror axis on the screen.
It might be difficult to snap to the structure because the drawing grid is in the way. In that case, turn off the grid before starting the mirror function. Hold the SHIFT button down to indicate a perfect vertical.

Note: it is also possible to use the mirror function in a 3D view, but it requires an additional point to define a mirror plane instead of a mirror axis. Any double lines and surfaces are recognized by Diamonds and removed.
