How to join bars into 1 continuous bar member

When exporting to Idea StatiCa Connection, it is often needed that individual bar elements (from global analysis software) are grouped into 1 physical bar member.

You can use the Merge function in Idea CheckBot to do this.

In BIM Expert 2024r01 release, this will option will be available in the CheckBot. In the meantime, you can use the workaround below.

Workaround for BIM Expert 2024 and older:

1. Close CheckBot
2. Browse to the folder where the ubsm model was exported, e.g. %localappdata%\BuildSoft\BIM Expert\IDEA StatiCa\Projects\23.1\<ModelName>
3. Open the file IdeaStatiCa.proj with NotePad, NotePad++ or any text editor app

4. Change CAD to FEA in the <SourceApp> line:

<SourceApp>CAD</SourceApp> ====> <SourceApp>FEA</SourceApp>

5. Save the file
6. Launch CheckBot
7. Open the IdeaStatiCa project
8. Now, the merging and splitting of members should be available
