The hastag symbol (or ‘#’) means that the shear reinforcement should be installed inclined (45°). However, in practice this is usally executed by combining vertical stirrups with lateral reinforcement. The 1071mm²/m in the image below is the amount for the vertical stirrups. The same amount should be placed as lateral reinforcement.
