Example

A continuous beam

• 2 spans
• 3m
• 4m
• rectangular cross-section b=190mm & h=500mm
• selfweight : 2.38 kN/m

Let us now sum up ULS minimal reactions (we expect the load factor here to be 1) and compare this with the total load

• total load : (20 kN/m + 2.38 kN/m) * 7m = 156,6 kN
• reactions ULS : 18.46 kN + 99.52 kN + 34.72 kN = 152,7 kN ≠ 156.6 kN

Solution

The displayed ULS minimal reactions do not necessarely correspond with all load factor equal to 1.  ConCrete calculates the enveloppe of the loads, calculated with load factors 1.35 and 1, and distillates the minimal reactions.

You can only compare the total loading with the reaction in SLS RC (Serviceability Limit State Rare Combination), here the load factors are always 1. You can display the SLS RC reactions by clicking the   icon and opt to see the combination SLS RC in the dialog window that pops up.

Check SLS RC

• 21.44 kN + 99.52 kN + 35.66 kN = 156,6 kN = total load
