This results in shear forces V<sub>z&#8217;<\/sub> and V<sub>y&#8217;<\/sub>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To resist to the shear force V<sub>z&#8217;<\/sub>, the reinforcement quantity A<sub>wz<\/sub> is calculated. This corresponds with the <strong>vertical legs<\/strong> of the stirrups.<\/li>\n<li>To resist to the shear force V<sub>y&#8217;<\/sub>, the reinforcement quantity A<sub>wy<\/sub>\u00a0is calculated. This corresponds with the <strong>horizontal legs<\/strong> of the stirrups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Beams in ConCrete (Plus) an only be loaded in the plane resulting in\u00a0V<sub>z&#8217;,\u00a0<\/sub> A<sub>wz <\/sub>and an reinforcement amount of the vertical legs of the stirrups. Because a stirrup is always a closed shape, ConCrete (Plus) will extent the outer vertical legs of the stirrups to two horizontal legs. Resulting in\u00a0A<sub>wy.<\/sub><\/p>\n<p>If you open a Diamonds beam with both loads in and out of the plane, ConCrete Plus will not verify if the assumed A<sub>wy\u00a0<\/sub>is suffient to bear the shear forces out of the plane\u00a0V<sub>y<\/sub>\u00a0(because ConCrete Plus is 1D). Thus ConCrete Plus will give the message above to warn you.<\/p>\n<p>Example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diamonds calculated\u00a0 A<sub>wz\u00a0<\/sub>= 500 mm\u00b2\/m. For a two-legged \u23008 stirrup, the vertical legs have an area of 100mm\u00b2\/stirrup. So you need 5 stirrups per meter to meet\u00a0A<sub>wz\u00a0<\/sub>= 500 mm\u00b2\/m.<\/li>\n<li>ConCrete Plus understands what A<sub>wz<\/sub>\u00a0represents, and can verify the 500 mm\u00b2\/m to 5 stirrups \u23008 per meter.<\/li>\n<li>Diamonds also calculated that A<sub>wy\u00a0<\/sub>= 700 mm\u00b2\/m.\u00a0ConCrete Plus<strong> cannot<\/strong>\u00a0verifry A<sub>wy<\/sub>\u00a0represents. You should see that the are of the horizontal legs of 5 stirrups \u23008 per meter are not sufficient to meet the requirement\u00a0A<sub>wy\u00a0<\/sub>= 700 mm\u00b2\/m.
