To eliminate the error message, you should:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check if the message can be neglected<br \/>\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\">When can the message be neglected<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<p>You can neglect the message, if it only appears for loads cases other than self-weight, while the combinations ULS, SLS calculate just fine.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-4386\" src=\"http:\/\/buildsoftsupport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"195\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence.png 540w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence-300x146.png 300w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence-50x24.png 50w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence-60x29.png 60w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence-35x17.png 35w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><strong>Why:\u00a0<\/strong>In some cases it is logical that the structure doesn&#8217;t calculate. Imperfections and\/or 2nd order <\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Test<\/strong><br \/>\nImperfections and 2nd order both result in a nonlinear calculation. Check in the reactions where the tension\/compression arises.\n<ul>\n<li>If it is a peak value that occurs locally (= 1 mesh triangle wide), you can neglect it.<\/li>\n<li>Check if the boundary condition CAN ever be met. For example: if in a combination the upward load exceeds the downward load, a solution can never be found.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<\/div><!-- \/ht-toggle-content -->\r\n    \t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\">E. Soil layers<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__content\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__contentwrap\">\r\n    \t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Test: replace soil layers with a spring constant<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Select all foundation slabs supported by soil layers.<\/li>\n<li>Click on\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"img_inline alignnone size-full wp-image-4178\" src=\"http:\/\/buildsoftsupport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/KnopOndersteuning.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"32\" height=\"31\" \/> and choose &#8216;Value&#8217; for the Y-displacement. Enter a value (for example: 5000kN\/m\u00b3).<\/li>\n<li>Repeat for all foundation beams (for example: 150 000kN\/m\u00b2).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fix<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FYI: <a href=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/knowledge-base\/how-to-take-an-excavation-into-account\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">follow these steps<\/a> to properly take the favorable effect of an excavation on the settlement calculations into accout (if you haven&#8217;t done that already).<\/li>\n<li>If the model doesn&#8217;t calculate: continue with the list below leaving the supports defined as springs.<\/li>\n<li>If the model calculates: Eurocode (EN 1997-1-1:2005 \u00a76.6.2) gives two conditions on which the soil calculations may be stopped:\n<ul>\n<li><em>(6) This depth may normally be taken as the depth at which the effective vertical stress due to the foundation load is 20 % of the effective overburden stress.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>(7) For many cases this depth may also be roughly estimated as 1 to 2 times the foundation width, but may be reduced for lightly-loaded, wider foundation rafts<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We know (6) as the <strong>stress tolerance<\/strong> in Diamonds. However, a stress tolerance different from zero can cause iterations problems.<br \/>\n(7) is an alternative to (6). If you want to apply it, you do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uncheck the option &#8220;Bottom layers continues into infinity&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>Set the thickness of the buttom soil layer to 2x the width of the foundation.<br \/>\nExample: a foundation is 10m wide, then the thickness of the buttom layer becomes 20m.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-15239\" src=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/NoConvergence-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"611\" height=\"403\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Set the stress tolerance to 0% (<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"img_inline alignnone size-full wp-image-1292\" src=\"http:\/\/buildsoftsupport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/KnopRekenmachine.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"29\" height=\"29\" \/> &gt; tab page <em>Soil<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Upward water pressure: a table with soil layers is not suitable for FEM-calculations. So the soil layers are translated into functions. Each mesh node in the foundation, will have its function depending on the loads present in that mesh node&#8230; That&#8217;s why you have to choose a reference combination (<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"img_inline alignnone size-full wp-image-1292\" src=\"http:\/\/buildsoftsupport.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/KnopRekenmachine.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"29\" height=\"29\" \/> &gt; tab page <em>Soil<\/em>). The loads in that reference combination will determine the behaviour of the soil function in that mesh node.<br \/>\nSoil functions in Diamonds, can only be trained to do one thing: either understand how compressed soil works, or either understand how soil under tension works.<\/p>\n<p>By consequence: if you need the settlement in combinations that contains mainely vertical downward loads, you should take a reference combination that contains mainely vertical loads.<br \/>\nIf your model also contains combinations that mainely consist of vertical upward loads (water pressue) then you should redo the calculation a second time, using a reference combination that also contains mainely vertical upward loads.<br \/>\nIf you try to calculate a combination that consists mainely of vertical upwards loads, with a reference combinations that contains mainely vertical downward loads, that can lead to iteration problems.<\/li>\n<li>If the model doesn&#8217;t calculate: leave the\u00a0springs and continue the list below.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n    \t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\t<\/div><!-- \/ht-toggle-content -->\r\n    \t\t<\/div>\r\n    \t\t\n    \t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle  \"  >\r\n    \t\t\t<div class=\"hts-toggle__title\">F.
