{"id":1379,"date":"2017-07-26T13:50:56","date_gmt":"2017-07-26T13:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buildsoftsupport.com\/?post_type=ht_kb&#038;p=1379"},"modified":"2024-05-14T13:06:14","modified_gmt":"2024-05-14T13:06:14","slug":"sql-installation-error-could-not-find-the-database-engine-startup-handle","status":"publish","type":"ht_kb","link":"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/nl\/knowledge-base\/sql-installation-error-could-not-find-the-database-engine-startup-handle\/","title":{"rendered":"Error: Could not find the Database Engine startup handle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the installation of Diamonds\/ PowerConnect (version 2017 until 2019r02), you get the error:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Could not find the Database Engine startup handle.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This error is related to the database system (= SQL instance) used by Diamonds\/ PowerConnect (version 2017 until 2019r02).<\/p>\n<h2>Solution 1<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Install Diamonds\/PowerConnect\/BIM Expert 2020 or more recent. These versions use a different type of database, which no longer requires the installation of an SQL instance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Solution 2<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/buildsoftsupport.com\/knowledge-base\/how-to-manually-remove-an-sql-database\/\">Uninstall <\/a>all corrupt SQL instances.
