This article explains how to send one or nodes of a Revit to Idea StatiCa Connection, using BIM Expert.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

1. Preparation in Revit<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The transfer is based on the analytical model. So in Revit, you need to create an analytical model first. You can use the Analytical Automation<\/em> command in Revit or create the analytical elements manually.\u00a0 The quality and coherence (connection between elements) of the analytical model is not relevant, as we recommend to choose on the physical model when going to Idea StatiCa Connection<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Existiting connection components will be recognized by BIM Expert and be sent to Idea StatiCa Connection with all connection elements. Loose connection elements will not be recognized and therefore will not be tranferred to Idea StatiCa Connection.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Creating the analytical model fast (no quality demand)<\/div>
\n

1.1 Analytical Automation<\/h3>\n

The Analytical Automation<\/em> will work only for ‘structural important’ elements, like columns, beams, floors and walls. It will not work for landscaping or curtains. This filtrage can be an advantage and save you time.<\/p>\n

\"\"Once the Analytical Automation<\/em> dialog pops up, you choose ‘Physical to Analytical’, by clicking the play button.<\/p>\n

Select the elements in the model (attention: the selection process must be in 1 go) and click ‘Run’ to generate the model with default settings.<\/p>\n

1.2 Manually create analytical elements<\/h3>\n

It is not time-efficient to manually build an analytical model from scratch. It is is only recommended if there are elements missing after running the Analytical Automation<\/em> command.<\/p>\n

After you have created new analytical elements, you need to associate them with their physical counterpart. You could also opt to use the Assisted Association<\/em>\u00a0command which creates the link while you are drawing the analytical element.\"\"<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

2.\u00a0 Send the Revit model to Idea StatiCa Connection
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

2.1 From Revit to BIM Expert<\/h3>\n

There are 2 ways to send models from Revit to BIM Expert:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Starting in Revit: in the BIM Expert tab page, select ‘Export’.
    \n\"\"<\/li>\n
  2. Starting in BIM Expert: click ‘Model > Import’ and select the Revit plugin. In case you have multiple Revit models open, BIM Expert will ask to select your model to be transferred.
    \n\"\"<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    No matter the way you have chosen, BIM Expert will now take over.<\/p>\n

    2.1.1 Settings<\/h4>\n

    You can have all (or a selection of) analytical elements exported. All elements is the most likely option.<\/p>\n

    Next, the Revit sections and materials must be mapped with BIM Expert’s section and material database. BIM Expert will try to find as many automatic mapping matches as possible. In case all sections and materials find a match, you will not see any dialogs for mapping.<\/p>\n

    2.1.2 Material mapping<\/h4>\n

    Database materials such as steel (e.g. S235, ASTM-Grades), concrete (e.g. C25\/30, M50) and timber (e.g. C24, D50, GL28c) are mapped automatically. In some cases, the match is not automatically found, because the name differs (Concrete grade C25<\/em> instead of Concrete grade C25\/30<\/em>). In that case, you can select the correct material from the database.<\/p>\n

    Tip: When searching an item in the database, type the first letters of the name to find it more quickly.<\/em><\/p>\n

    If you cannot find a suited\u00a0counterpart in the BIM Expert database, the material can be added as new.<\/p>\n

    2.1.3 Section mapping<\/h4>\n

    Database sections (such as I, H, UB, UC, W, C, U, O, \u2610 and L sections) are mapped automatically. In some cases, the match is not automatically found, because the name differs\u00a0 (e.g. name is\u00a0HEB300 – S235<\/em>\u00a0instead of HEB300<\/em>). In that case, you can select the correct cross-section from the database.
    \nTip: When searching an item in the database, type the first letters of the name to find it more quickly.<\/em><\/p>\n

    Parametric sections (e.g. rectangles, circle, trapezium, …) are not in the database. They should always be added as new.<\/p>\n

    The model is now in BIM Expert.<\/p>\n
