Preparation in Revit<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>An UBSM file can handle geometry, loads, mesh, analysis settings, results and connections.\u00a0 So, the export can be as complete as you prefer, as long as these items are present in Revit.<\/p>\nThe transfer is based on the analytical model. So in Revit you need to create an analytical model first. The quality and coherence (connection between elements) of the analytical model will determine the quality of the structural calculations. Send model from Revit to UBSM<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3>2.1 From Revit to BIM Expert<\/h3>\n<p>There are 2 ways to send models from Revit to BIM Expert:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Starting in Revit: in the BIM Expert tab page, select &#8216;Export&#8217;.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9040 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"633\" height=\"82\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport.png 1218w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport-300x39.png 300w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport-768x100.png 768w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport-1024x133.png 1024w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport-50x6.png 50w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport-60x8.png 60w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_bimexpertexport-35x5.png 35w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 633px) 100vw, 633px\" \/><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left;\">Starting in BIM Expert: click &#8216;Model &gt; Import&#8217; and select the Revit plugin. In case you have multiple Revit models open, BIM Expert will ask to select your model to be transferred.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-9087\" src=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_fromrevit_import_modeloverview.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"638\" height=\"239\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>No matter the way you have chosen, BIM Expert will now take over.<\/p>\n<h4>2.1.1 Settings<\/h4>\n<p>You can have all (or a selection of) analytical elements exported. All elements is the most likely option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-9047 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exporttobimexpert.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exporttobimexpert.png 382w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exporttobimexpert-225x300.png 225w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exporttobimexpert-38x50.png 38w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exporttobimexpert-45x60.png 45w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exporttobimexpert-26x35.png 26w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next, the Revit sections and materials must be mapped with BIM Expert&#8217;s section and material database. BIM Expert will try to find as many automatic mapping matches as possible. In case all sections and materials find a match, you will not see any dialogs for mapping.<\/p>\n<h4>2.1.2 Material mapping<\/h4>\n<p>Database materials such as steel (e.g. S235, ASTM-Grades), concrete (e.g. C25\/30, M50) and timber (e.g. C24, D50, GL28c) are mapped automatically. In some cases, the match is not automatically found, because the name differs (<em>Concrete grade C25<\/em> instead of <em>Concrete grade C25\/30<\/em>). In that case, you can select the correct material from the database.<\/p>\n<p><em>Tip: When searching an item in the database, type the first letters of the name to find it more quickly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-9052 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exportmaterialmatch.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"307\" srcset=\"https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exportmaterialmatch.png 698w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exportmaterialmatch-300x191.png 300w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exportmaterialmatch-50x32.png 50w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exportmaterialmatch-60x38.png 60w, https:\/\/support.buildsoft.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/bimexpert_revit_exportmaterialmatch-35x22.png 35w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you cannot find a suited\u00a0counterpart in the BIM Expert database, the material can be added as new.<\/p>\n<h4>2.1.3 Section mapping<\/h4>\n<p>Database sections (such as I, H, UB, UC, W, C, U, O, \u2610 and L sections) are mapped automatically. In some cases, the match is not automatically found, because the name differs\u00a0 (e.g. name is\u00a0<em>HEB300 &#8211; S235<\/em>\u00a0instead of <em>HEB300<\/em>). In that case, you can select the correct cross-section from the database.<br \/>\n<em>Tip: When searching an item in the database, type the first letters of the name to find it more quickly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Parametric sections (e.g. rectangles, circle, trapezium, &#8230;) are not in the database. Next, choose UBSM File. UBSM is BuildSoft&#8217;s neutral file format, XML based.
