<p>Points that are too close to each other. They cause irregularies in the mesh. For example:</p>
<ul>
<li>Meshlines that run across the model</li>
<li>Missing green lines (= indication of a free border) were you would expect them.</li>
</ul>
<p><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-1966 aligncenter" src="http://buildsoftsupport.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/PointsTooClose.png" alt="" width="756" height="525" srcset="https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/PointsTooClose.png 756w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/PointsTooClose-300x208.png 300w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/PointsTooClose-50x35.png 50w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/PointsTooClose-60x42.png 60w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/PointsTooClose-35x24.png 35w" sizes="(max-width: 756px) 100vw, 756px" /></p>
<h2>Solution</h2>
<ul>
<li>Go to the menu <i>Options &gt; Preferences &gt; tab page ‘Model’</i></li>
<li>Set the geometric tolerance to 3cm.</li>
<li>Close this window</li>
<li>Generate the mesh.</li>
<li>Start the elastic analysis <img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="img_inline alignnone size-full wp-image-1546" src="http://buildsoftsupport.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Calculate.png" alt="" width="24" height="26" />. The following warning will appear:</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: center;"><i>Impossible to calculate structure: few points are too close</i></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><i>Something went wrong while verifying the structure</i></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-7862 aligncenter" src="https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ErrorImpossibleToCalculateStructureFewPointsTooClose.png" alt="" width="362" height="113" srcset="https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ErrorImpossibleToCalculateStructureFewPointsTooClose.png 362w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ErrorImpossibleToCalculateStructureFewPointsTooClose-300x94.png 300w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ErrorImpossibleToCalculateStructureFewPointsTooClose-50x16.png 50w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ErrorImpossibleToCalculateStructureFewPointsTooClose-60x19.png 60w, https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/ErrorImpossibleToCalculateStructureFewPointsTooClose-35x11.png 35w" sizes="(max-width: 362px) 100vw, 362px" /></p>
<ul>
<li>Diamonds will select automatically the points that are too close to one another.<br />
Note that the location of these points is not necessary the place where the reactions are zero.</li>
<li>If these elements are not immediately visible, use the button <img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="img_inline alignnone size-full wp-image-1601" src="http://buildsoftsupport.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/KnopShowSelectionOnly.png" alt="" width="27" height="24" />  to only see these points. Use F10 to center these elements on the screen.</li>
<li>Join the points together.
<ul>
<li>Join them manually by adjusting the point coodinates in the data table <img decoding="async" loading="lazy" class="img_inline alignnone size-full wp-image-10062" src="https://support.buildsoft.eu/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/KnopDataTabel.png" alt="" width="19" height="19" />. Request sufficient decimals (menu <em>Options </em>&gt; <em>Units &amp; Decimals</em>)!</li>
<li>Use the <a href="http://buildsoftsupport.com/knowledge-base/how-does-the-projection-function-work/">projection function</a> (recommended)</li>
<li>Use the <a href="http://buildsoftsupport.com/knowledge-base/how-does-the-structure-verfication-function-work/">structure verification</a></li>
</ul>
</li>
