Missing hardware key….  The connection with the server has broken. The maximum number of users or the version or the expire date is insufficient

[NL]: Ontbrekende sleutel … De verbinding met de server is verbroken. Het maximum aantal gebruikers of vervalversie of vervaldatum is ontoereikend.

[FR]: Clef manquante … La connection avec le serveur est arrêtée. Le nombre maximal d’utilisateurs ou la version ou la date d’échéance est dépassé.

This error occurs when:

• you start PowerPlate, PowerFrame, 12Build or Concrete.
  Go to Solution 1.
• you play with the network settings in PowerPlate, PowerFrame, 12Build or Concrete via the menu ‘Help > Network’.
  Go to Solution 2.

Solution 1

You’re probably using Codemeter 8.10.
We are experiencing problems using our software in combination with Codemeter 8.10, resulting in our software not finding a valid licence although there are licenses available. This article describes how to uninstall Codemeter 8.10 and how to access a better version of Codemeter.

Solution 2

You need to:

1. Empty all fields
2. Uncheck the ‘Searching for the hardware key in network’ option
3. Click ‘Ok’ to leave the window

These license dongles are not supported on current 64-bit operating systems without installing the driver below. And even with the driver, we cannot guarantee it will work since the system itself is outdated (technology doesn’t stand still). If you’ve installed the driver and your Smartkey dongle is not recognized, contact the support-desk (support@buildsoft.eu) so we can look into the possibilities together (most commonly the old Smartkey dongle is replaced by a new Codemeter dongle).

How to install the driver for Smartkeys on 64-bit operating systems

1. Make sure the license dongle is not connected.
2. Install the BuildSoft software of your choice
   Following BuildSoft programs are compatible with Smartkey dongles:

   PowerFrame, PowerPlate, PowerConnect (2012 or older), 12-Build, ConCrete, ConCrete Plus, ConCrete C
   Note: ConCrete C will not run on a 64 bit operating system.

   Following BuildSoft programs are NOT compatible with Smartkey dongles:

   Diamonds (all versions), PowerConnect (2013 or newer), BIM Expert

3. Download the driver (see below).
4. Unzip the driver. You can use WinZip (free trial) or 7zip (free ware) to do this.
5. In the unzipped folder, double click the application “SmartkeyDriverInstaller.exe”.
   Note: when the “SmartkeyDriverInstaller.exe” doesn’t want to install, you can also try the “SmartkeyDriverInstaller.msi”
6. Plug the license dongle into your computer.
7. Start the Buildsoft software.

• compatible with most recent versions of Windows and Mac

The Smartkey license dongles belong to the previous licensing system. They existed in USB version and Parallel Port version.
