When opening the connection library in PowerFrame, you get the error:

Solution

Try the close PowerFrame. You’ll probably need the Task Manager to do so.
Import the model in Diamonds 2015 (or older). Save the Diamonds-model.
Import the Diamonds model back into PowerFrame.

Error: Invalid floating point operation

When running the steel/ timber verification in PowerFrame, you get the error:

[NL]: Controle van staal en hout kon niet worden uitgevoerd. Invalid floating point operation.

Solution

Reset the PowerFrame preferences.

Close all PowerFrame projects.
Go to C:\Users\**YourUsername**\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\BuildSoft\PowerFrame.
The folder AppData is a hidden folder. To show hidden folders, to go View and check the option Hidden items.
Delete the content of this folder.
Start PowerFrame. He should ask you the language.

About the Preferences

‘Preferences’ are settings that are user dependant. The user can choose what suits him/her best, for example:

Units and decimals,
The language
…

At the first startup of PowerPlate, PowerPlate takes the default values (stored in the Program Files). When you work with PowerPlate, you will customize these settings along the way. These changes are stored in a set of files in the folder C:\Users\**YourUsername**\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\BuildSoft\PowerFrame.

Error: Forward substitution was impossible

When starting the elastic analysis, you get the error:

[NL]: Voorwaartse substitutie mislukt.

[FR]: Substitution vers l’avant non possible.

[ES]: No se puede substituir hacia adelante.

Solution

Your model probably contains different structures that are not connected to each other. Make a PowerFrame-file for each structure when running the model analysis.

Error: No results available for ULS FC/ SLS RC/ SLS QP. Therefore the necesaary reinforcement has been calculated without regard of these limit states

When running the reinforcement calcation, you get the error:

[NL]: Voor UGT FC/ GGT ZC/ GGT QP werden er geen resultaten berekend. Bijgevolg kan voor het bepalen van de wapening geen rekening worden gehouden met deze grenstoestanden.

[FR]: Il n’y a pas de résultat pour ELU CF/ ELS CR/ ELS QP. Les armatures ne tiennent donc pas compte de cet état limite.

[ES]: No hay resultados disponibles para ELU CF/ ELS CR/ ELS CP. La armadura necesarie se ha calculado sin tener en cuenta estos estados límites.

Solution

Go to the Loads configuration ( or F5).
Click on and then on .
Select ULS FC, SLS RC and SLS QP from the list.
Click on .
Click on .

When you click on a button in 12-Build/ PowerFrame, it looks like the software is not responding:

not possible to select the language in the start-up screen
not possible to draw a line
not possible to continu in the structure generator/ wizzard

Solution

Uninstall CodeMeter.
Reinstall CodeMeter.

What is kmod?

The strength properties of timber depend on

the timber type (solid, glued, …)
the load duration time (dead load is always present, wind loads are present for a shorter time, creep)
and the climatic conditions (temperature, moisture variations).

The effect of these three parameter on the strength properties, is taken into account by the factor k_mod.

According to Eurocode

Values for k_mod can be found in EN 1995-1-1 Table 3.1.
k_mod will adjust the material properties in the design of timber structures.

In Diamonds

The values for k_mod are implemented in the material library of Diamonds.

The service class (also called ‘Climate class’) to determine the value of k_mod, can be imposed in the Load group dialog .

Where a load combination consists of actions belonging to different load duration classes, the value of k_mod should correspond to the action with the shortest duration (EN 1995-1-1 § 3.1.3).
For example: for a combination of dead load and medium term load, a value of k_mod corresponding with the medium-term load should be used.

Note: it is not possible to impose a climate class in PowerFrame. Each timber-quality has one k_mod assigned, which will be used for all combinations. The value for k_mod can be viewed/changed with Edit > Material library.
