Update the time certificate of the dongle go to the menu “CmContainer Info” and click on the update-button.

Update the firmware of this dongle

This issue occurs on MacOS ≥ 10.13 in combination with CodeMeter Control Center ≥ 7.10.

Solution

• Dongles starting with 1-xxxxxxx are outdated. Contact the support (support@buildsoft.eu) to get them replaced.
• For dongles starting with 2-xxxxxxx or 3-xxxxxxx
  A Cm dongle does not only contain your license, but also software to manage that license. The workflow below will update the software and reconfigurate it.
  • Plug the dongle into a computer in which it is recongized by Codemeter Control Center.
  • Select the dongle and check its version. The version should a least be 2.02. If that’s not the case, click on to update it with the button . This can take a while. Do not unplug the dongle before the update is finished!
    
  • Open de Command prompt.
    Navigate to the directory where cmu32.exe staat (C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeMeter\Runtime\bin\) en geef onderstaand commando in. Replace the %1 with the number of your license dongle.

    --serial %1 --set-config-disk HidCommunication

    Hit ENTER. The window should say the communication mode has changed.
    

  • Retry if the Mac-computer recognizes the dongle now.

[Windows OS]

1. Open CodeMeter Control Center using Start > All Programs > CodeMeter.
   I cannot find CodeMeter Control Center in 'All Programs'

   Then it is probably not installed. Download CodeMeter Control Center and install it.

   
2. Select the relevant license. For example Diamonds Trial Version.
   Click on . An internet page opens.
3. The column Valid until should contain a date in the future.
   If so: the license is valid.
   If not: the license is expired.

[Mac iOS]

It is not possible to activate the Trial license on such a system. Contact BuildSoft to look for a solution.

1. Open CodeMeter Control Center using Start > All Programs > CodeMeter.
   I cannot find the program CodeMeter Control Center on my computer

   Download CodeMeter Control Center and install it.

2. Select BuildSoft Edu 12 from the list. This type of license starts with “128-“.
   If you’re using a cloud license, you’ll see a license that starts with “140-“.
   Click . An internet page opens.
   Press here to reveal

   • either you requested the license, but you didn’t activate it.
     Check your mailbox for an email that has ‘Diamonds – PowerConnect – BIM Expert – ConCrete – 12Build’ in the subject.
     Don’t forget to check the spam folder and the folder with deleted e-mails.

     Pay attention to the date of the email! If you want to activate the license for academic year 202x-202y, you need the email sent between 1/9/202x and 30/8/202y.
     Follow the instructions in the e-mail to activate the license. 

   • either you didn’t request an educational license.
     You can request an education license through our website. It can take 2 workdays for us to process your request!

   

3. The column Valid until should contain a date in the future.
   • If the date is in the future and it is written in black: the license is valid.
   • If the date is in the future, but it is written in red: go to this article.
   • If the date is not in the future, it will be written in red: the license is not valid.

{date} {time} : API Error 224 (BOX VERSION TOO OLD) occurred!

Solution

You need to update the firmware of the dongle.

Depending on your operating system, please proceed as follows:

Windows

• Open the tool CmDust using the  menu Start > All Programs > CodeMeter > Tools.
  
• A black prompt-like dialog will appear.
  The dialog will automatically collect data about Codemeter in a log-file CmDust-Result.log and save that log-file to a certain location on your computer.
• When the data-collecting is finished (which takes a few seconds), the black dialog above will automatically close. The directory to which the output file was saved, will open.
• Send this the log file CmDust-Result.log to BuildSoft Support for analyzing .

Mac OS

For Mac OS, you create the CmDust file using the cmu commandline program. Calling cmu is stored in the search path. To create a CmDust log, please proceed as follows:

• Open the Terminal app on your Mac.
• Type in the following command cmu --cmdust.
  Using the option --file allows you to specify a name and the storage location.
  By default, the file displays in the screen console.
• Send this file for analyzing to BuildSoft Support.

1. Open Windows Registry (Start > typ ‘regedit’)
2. Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\WIBU-SYSTEMS\CodeMeterCC
3. If not present, create new DWORD (right mouse click), name it “AllowCmActDelete”.
   
   
4. Double click the DWORD-file and set the value to 1. Close the DWord and save changes.
5. Open the task manager (CTRL +  ALT +  DEL or right mouse click on the Windows bar) > tab page ‘Details’:
   • End the task Buildsoft.Gateway.exe (if present)
   • End the task Buildsoft.Gateway.Server.exe (if present)
   • End the task Buildsoft.Server.exe (if present)
   • End the task CmWebAdmin.exe (if present)
   • End the task CodeMeterCC.exe
   • End the task CmWebAdmin.exe
6. Start Codemeter again (Start > All Programs > Codemeter Control Center)
   The button ‘Remove’ is now enabled. Select the cloud-license and hit ‘Remove’.
   
7. Open the task manager (CTRL +  ALT +  DEL or right mouse click on the Windows bar) > tab page ‘Services’:
   • Find Gateway in the list > Start service.
   • Find Gateway Server in the list > Start service.

   Both Gateway and Gateway Server should have the status ‘Started’ now. If not, just start them again.

[Codemeter 8.10 or newer]

• Either you use the method above.
• Either you use the command-line
  • Open prompt
  • Write the code below and hit ENTER

    cmu.exe --delete-cmcloud-credentials --serial 140-*number of your cloud license*

Causes:

• The trial-license has already been used before.
• The Trial-license didn’t activate automatically
• The license manager CodeMeter was unable to verify the time.

Solution

• Open CodeMeter Control Center (Start > All Programs > CodeMeter Control Center ).
• Check if you find ‘Diamonds Trial Version’ in the list.
  • If you find it in the list
    • Select it and click on ‘WebAdmin’. An internet page will open.
    • Verify the expirary date.
      • If the date is red, the licence has expired and can ‘t be activated again. Contact BuildSoft for alternatives.
      • If the date is black, the license either hasn’t been activated or is activated. Start the desired BuildSoft software. You should be able to use the software without limits.
  • If you don’t find it in the list
    • Go to the installation-folder of the BuildSoft software.
    • Find the Trial license and double click it.
      • If you’ve received no warning, the license has been imported. Start the desired BuildSoft software. You should be able to use the software without limits.

Solution 2

If there is no internet connection, the license manager CodeMeter is unable to find a valid time certificate. Consequently, the trial license will be not activated.

1. Open CodeMeter Control Center (Start > All Programs > CodeMeter Control Center).
2. Menu ‘Process’ > ‘Update Time Certificates’

The procedure requires TWO things from you:

1. Context file

Follow the steps below (watch movie with steps):

1. Open CodeMeter Control Center and select the dongle for which you want to make the context file. 
2. Click ‘License update’.
3. A new window pops up. You’ll see ‘Welcome to the CmFAS Assistant’. Click ‘Next’.
4. You’ll see ‘Create license request’. Click ‘Next’.
5. You’ll see ‘Extend existing license’. Click ‘Next’.
6. You’ll see ‘Choose the vendor’. Click ‘Next’.
   
   I can't choose 'Vendor'?

   The list is empty.

   1. Go back one step with the arrow on the top left side.
   2. Choose ‘Add license of a new vendor’.
   3. Enter the Firm code ‘100684’.
   4. Click ‘Next’.
   5. Continue with the next step below.

7. You’ll see ‘Please select file name’. This step will create the context file (= *.WibuCMRac-file). By default this file will be created in the “Desktop” directory. Do not change the name or the extension of this file! Click ‘Commit’.
8. Click ‘Finish’.

2. Printscreen

1. Open CodeMeter Control Center and select the dongle to make the print screen from. This should be the same dongle as selected in ‘1. Context file’.  
2. Click on ‘Webadmin’.
3. An internet page will open. You should see the columns ‘Valid Until’ and ‘Feature Map’.
   
   Don't see 'Valid Until' and 'Feature Map'?

   This is because you’re working with and older version of CodeMeter.
   Go to ‘Content’ > ‘Licenses’. In the overview, click on the number ‘100684’.
   You’ll see the columns ‘Expiration Time’ and ‘Feature Map’ now. Continue with step 5.

4. Take a printscreen of this page. If needed, zoom out so you can see the entire list. If the list is too long, take 2 print screens. BuildSoft has to be able to read the content your printscreen!
